SAG sends Marine units holiday hello

Gilbert, Gould, Bon Jovi among participants

HOLLYWOOD — A group of high-profile members of the Screen Actors Guild have sent holiday cards and good wishes to three U.S. Marine units in Afghanistan.

The effort grew out of a request by U.S. Marine Corps 1st District in response to a Dept. of Defense suspension of the sending of letters to troops in the mail. In this new program, the Marines are directly delivering the cards to officers in the 13th, 15th and 26th Expeditionary units.

SAG said the postcards will be delivered by Christmas Day.

Participants include president Melissa Gilbert, recording secretary Elliott Gould, treasurer Kent McCord, first VP Mike Farrell, Bruce Boxleitner, Kim Delaney, Jon Bon Jovi, Steve Harris, Michael Badalucco, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Chi McBride and Jeri Ryan.
