LONDON — RTL Group is upping Tony Cohen to chief exec of its production business, while managing director Bruno Chauvat will take over the duties of the departing Richard Eyre (Daily Variety, March 20).
Cohen is chief exec for worldwide production at Pearson Television, the TV division of media group Pearson, a 22% shareholder in RTL.
Eyre is RTL’s director of strategy and content, as well as chief exec of Pearson TV, and will step down at the end of the month. A spokesman said he was leaving on “amicable” terms.
Eyre is the second major British exec to exit RTL since the group was created by the merger of CLT/Ufa and Pearson TV a year ago. David Elstein, the former head of the U.K.’s Channel 5, which is majority-owned by RTL, ankled last year.
Last month, German media giant Bertelsmann said it was boosting its stake in RTL to 67% through the purchase of shares held by Belgium’s Groupe Bruxelles Lambert.
