Places to party in London
ChinaWhite: Still holding its own after 2½ years, this Oriental-themed members club attracts everyone from posh young Londoners to Hugh Hefner, who threw himself a birthday party. Things don’t get going much before midnight and, at the moment, Wednesdays are particularly hot, but such things are subject to change. 6 Air St., London W1R; 020 7343 0040. Open Monday-Saturday 8 p.m.-3 a.m.
57 Jermyn Street: If things aren’t happening over at ChinaWhite, take a short walk to this smaller, friendlier basement drinking establishment near the Ritz Hotel. Tuesdays are the happening night. 57 Jermyn St., London SW1Y; 020 7495 5570. Open nightly until 3 a.m.
Blue Bar: A lovely venue to meet for a drink before dinner, this is one among many popular hotel bars in London. The walls and leather club chairs are Copenhagen blue, the trim is black and white, and the feel is Euro sophisticate. Berkeley Hotel, Wilton Place, London SW1X; 020 7235 6000. Open daily 4-11 p.m.
