Publicuity exec noted for her ' relationships with media'
NEW YORK — Hiromi Kawanishi has joined Miramax Films as vice president of publicity.
Kawanishi, who will be based in Gotham, will work on upcoming Miramax releases including Yuen Wo Ping’s “Iron Monkey,” due in September, as well as “Italian for Beginners” and “Baran.” She reports to Janet Hill, Miramax’s acting head of publicity, and Daniel Scheffey, senior veep of publicity.
“Hiromi’s exceptional relationships with media, filmmakers and festivals make her an extraordinary addition to an already terrific team,” Hill said.
Kawanishi comes to Miramax after serving as veep at Magic Lantern Public Relations. Most recently, Kawanishi oversaw the publicity campaigns for Sony Pictures Classics’ Academy Award-winning “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Pollock.”
Before joining Magic Lantern, Kawanishi was a senior publicist at Kahn & Jacobs Public Relations. She also repped such events as the Independent Feature Film Market and the Gotham Awards. She began her publicity career with Samantha Dean & Associates.
