MGM names 2 VPs in worldwide TV distrib’n

Brooks to o'see licensing, Sterton to manage syndication sales

HOLLYWOOD — MGM Worldwide Television Distribution has tapped Jeff Brooks as VP of basic cable distribution and has upped Kim Sterton to the post of VP of Western region syndication sales.

Both will report to Jim Packer, exec veep of TV sales, North America.

In his new gig, Brooks will be responsible for licensing the Lion’s film and TV library to North American cable outlets.

Sterton will manage the Western region of the U.S. for all syndication, including barter and cash distribution, and negotiating on all MGM current and future TV series and movie packages.

Mondo move-over

Brooks comes to MGM from Mondo Media — a creator and syndicator of original animated content for online distribution — where he served as veep of biz development. Previously, he spent five years in various capacities at Tribune Entertainment.

Sterton has been with MGM Worldwide TV Distribution for six years. She began at the company as a TV research analyst.

The Lion’s worldwide TV distrib arm handles global distribution of film and television product as well as co-productions for MGM Studios; through the division, nearly 4,100 features and 10,100 TV episodes are available to the global TV market.

Company also distributes NBC Enterprises-produced programming, including “Will & Grace,” and frosh skeins “Emeril” and “Crossing Jordan,” in all territories outside North America.
