Former New Line exec will develop creative marketing, promotional partnerships

Mary Goss Robino, formerly a senior promotions exec at New Line Cinema, has been appointed senior veep, worldwide promos, at MGM Distribution.

Reporting to MGM worldwide theatrical marketing prexy Gerry Rich, Robino will be responsible for developing creative marketing and promotional partnerships for MGM films.

“Mary is a leader in her field — a skilled, creative marketer with both strategic and tactical expertise,” Rich said. “Those assets, combined with her keen understanding of the promotional needs of corporate America, will contribute greatly to our marketing efforts, particularly with our exceptional slate of forthcoming films.”

Studio’s coming off a relatively quiet 2000 releasing year, but its upcoming releases include several high-profile projects, such as “Hannibal,” a sequel to “Silence of the Lambs”; the John Woo-helmed WWII drama “Windtalkers,” starring Nicolas Cage; and an updating of the action-thriller “Rollerball.” MGM’s next release will be “Antitrust,” a cyber-thriller bowing wide on Jan. 12 for the long Martin Luther King holiday weekend.

Before New Line, Robino worked at Paramount as licensing manager and at both MGM and 20th Century Fox in publicity and promo posts.
