HOLLYWOOD — Jack MacKenzie has been tapped to head the entertainment division of media research/consultancy firm Frank N. Magid Associates.
He replaces David Smith, who left the company at the end of January.
MacKenzie most recently was head of Magid’s Magid Media Futures division, which mainly services local TV stations, as well as senior consultant in the company’s North American TV division.
He joined Magid in 1999 from CBS O&O KCNC in Denver, where he was news director.
The entertainment division has offices in Los Angeles and Gotham. MacKenzie will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the division’s clients, which include the major TV networks, first-run syndie program producers, cable nets and studios. He’ll also manage the new-media division.
MacKenzie has relocated from Magid’s Marion, Iowa, headquarters to Los Angeles for the job.
In one of his first orders of business, MacKenzie has recruited Nancy Bristow to serve as senior managing director of the company’s New York operation, where she’ll manage the Magid BrandWorks division and oversee the company’s cable research and consulting practice.
Bristow had been a partner in the brand practice of Internet-focused consulting company Luminant Worldwide.
