Exec named managing director for South Korean branch
SYDNEY — Douglas Lee, former director of marketing for United Intl. Pictures in Southeast Asia and Australasia, has rejoined the international theatrical distrib.
Lee was named managing director of UIP’s South Korean branch last week, replacing H.K. Lee, who had held that post since 1992.
UIP president-chief operating officer Andrew Cripps told Daily Variety that H.K. Lee had resigned to pursue other interests.
The highly regarded Douglas Lee quit his Sydney-based UIP job in June last year to join a dot-com company. “It was a coincidence of timing,” said Cripps, referring to the interchange of the two Lees. “Douglas was looking for a job, and he sees his future back in Korea.”
