Labor org planning post-attack event

Union workers, families to benefit

The Hollywood Entertainment Labor Council has announced plans for a Dec. 3 benefit for union workers and families hurt by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

“This is the first time HELC has attempted to mount such as major ‘gathering of the clan’ event, which we anticipate will attract more than 1,000 persons from among the rank and file members of our guilds and unions as well as from the industry at large,” said Scott Roth, prexy of the org. HELC comprises reps from more than 50 guilds and unions.

The “Hollywood Labor Helps” event will take place at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City with proceeds going to victim relief at the AFL-CIO’s Labor Community Services arm. Info on tickets, which cost $25, is available at 818-762-9995.
