The L.A. office of Chicago law firm Katten Muchin Zavis has hired six entertainment attorneys from the former entertainment law powerhouse of Troop, Steuber, Pasich, Reddick & Tobey.
The team of attorneys includes Robert Darwell, who chaired Troop’s entertainment department and will join KMZ as a partner, along with RikToulon and Benjamin Mulcahy. Shaun Clark, Aaron Campbell and Derek Arteta will be associates.
The group will bring its entire practice to KMZ, officials said. Clients include Disney, USA Films, Paramount Intl. Television and Showtime Networks.
“We are very pleased that we were able to add Troop’s entertainment and advertising practice to our existing transactional entertainment practice,” said Susan Grode, who chaired KMZ’s entertainment and new-media group. “These lawyers bring premier clients and unparalleled depth to KMZ.”
Much of the former Troop Steuber has joined the international law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld (Daily Variety, Dec. 11). That move, announced Dec. 10, took effect Jan. 1.
