Paul Oneile, chairman of United Intl. Pictures, and Andrew Cripps, president and chief operating officer of UIP, have renewed their contracts for an additional three years.
The news ends speculation that Oneile might step aside to make way for Cripps, or that Cripps might leave if that did not happen.
This comes at a time when UIP, the foreign theatrical arm of Universal and Paramount, is riding high on the success of pics such as “Shrek,” “The Mummy Returns” and “Bridget Jones’ Diary,” but at the same time trying to cut overhead under pressure from its shareholders.
Oneile did not return calls for comment. Cripps refused to comment.
