Company looks to raise $120 mil for 'Charlie,' 'Play' pix
BERLIN — Universal Pictures is set to tap into the German film funds market for the second time via the Dusseldorf-based GVP.
GVP has launched its second media fund, MediaStream 2, to raise 141 million euros ($120 million) for two U projects, director Jonathan Demme’s “The Truth About Charlie,” a remake of the 1963 thriller “Charade” to star Mark Wahlberg, and Shawn Levy’s comedy “Pay or Play.”
GVP, a subsidiary of financial services group Ideen Kapital Gruppe, backed Rob Cohen’s upcoming street racing drama “The Fast and the Furious” after launching its first media fund last year. Company previously specialized in property funds.
