Garand upped at Walt Disney

Exec VP o'sees development of financial plans

HOLLYWOOD — John Garand, previously senior vice president of planning and control at Walt Disney, Wednesday was promoted to exec veep in the same areas.

Garand, who reports to senior exec veep and chief financial officer Thomas Staggs, is responsible for developing the Burbank-based conglom’s operating profit, cash flow and capital-spending plans, as well as its financial reports, audit and corporate travel programs. He recently has been involved in Disney’s payroll-reduction efforts.

“(Garand) plays a vital role in the ongoing financial management of our businesses, and this promotion is well-deserved recognition of that role,” Staggs said.

A nine-year Disney vet, Garand was executive vice president and chief financial officer at Morse Shoe before joining the media conglom.
