The EMI Group has named two execs to join the British music conglom’s newly expanded corporate operations in New York, reporting to group finance director Tony Bates.
Ernesto Schmitt was tapped to fill the newly created post of senior veepee of strategy and business development, beginning in October.
Schmitt will support the group’s top management in strategy, business performance and dealmaking for the recorded music and publishing divisions.
Exec arrives from music Netco PeopleSound.com, which he founded in 1999. Between 1994 and ’98, Schmitt was a strategy consultant at Boston Consulting Group.
Price is right
Meanwhile, Prescott Price has been upped to senior VP and financial controller. Starting in September, he will manage EMI’s day-to-day financial and management accounting.
Price has been financial chief of EMI Recorded Music’s Hong Kong-based Asia division since 1997, handling all financial and tech-related duties. Before that, he was a partner at U.K. management consulting firm YKW for four years. He also had a three-year stint, 1990-93, as finance manager at EMI Records U.K.
