Douglas on sidelines

Thesp neutral in SAG prexy race

Kirk Douglas has declared he has not endorsed Melissa Gilbert for the presidency of the Screen Actors Guild despite a posting on her Web site.

“He is very careful to stay neutral in campaigns like this one,” a Douglas rep said. “They may have had their picture taken together.”

Douglas was listed as one of 29 endorsers at in Monday’s edition of Daily Variety. Gilbert’s campaign was not available for comment, but Douglas’ name was removed from the site by late Monday afternoon.

Supporters of Valerie Harper identified Richard Dreyfuss last month as a supporter, but he later said he would be neutral in the election.
