Exec to streamline ops, improve efficiency
BMG’s Bernardez strategizes BMG Entertainment has tapped Juan Carlos Bernardez senior vice president of strategic projects at the Big Five diskery, effective immediately.
Exec will coordinate worldwide implementation of the company’s so-called “fast-and-flexible” scheme to streamline operations and improve efficiency at the Bertelsmann AG unit.
Move comes at the same time BMG begins a long-planned staff reduction and restructuring in an effort to trim tens of millions of dollars in overhead and return to profitability. The company reportedly posted a loss of $150 million for the past year, and is expected to cut several hundred jobs from its workforce.
Bernardez last served as VP of finance at BMG Europe, based in London. He also has held several operational and financial posts in Europe, Latin America and the U.S.
Bernardez will be based in New York and report to BMG senior VP-financial chief Joseph Gorman.
