African web taps Maziya chief exec

SOUTH AFRICA — The African Broadcast Network has upped Savannah Maziya to CEO.

Maziya was director of corporate affairs and broadcast relations. Before that, she was prexy of the SPOP Group, which is involved in project management, marketing and commodities trading. She also did a stint at CBS, where she worked with media research analysts.

ABN launched in January, supplying affils in six African countries with a one-hour block of primetime programming, including U.S. soap “Passions.” The network upped that this month and now supplies an extra two hours a week.
