BERLIN — UPCtv, the marketing, distribution and programming outlet of United Pan-Europe Communications, will offer three new channels on Germany’s PrimaCom cable network.
PrimaCom, Germany’s third-largest cable operator, runs its own networks in the former East German states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. Company has also developed a new digital platform, PrimaTV, in the Leipzig area.
Initially, the three new channels will be offered only on PrimaTV but will be available in other regions later this year.
The digital service will also be made available to the company’s nearly 1 million subscribers around the country.
UPCtv’s new webs include the Extreme Sports Channel, Avante, a men’s interest channel focusing on technology and science with docu-style magazine shows and Innergy, which offers programs on mind, body and spirit.
UPC, which owns 25% of PrimaCom, is also looking to buy and upgrade Deutsche Telekom’s regional cable networks in the states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.
