UPC, SBS set up 2 new channels

CANNES — Dutch-based, pan-European cable group UPC and SBS Broadcasting revealed details Wednesday about two new thematic channels.

Set to roll out in the fall, a youth-oriented channel and an archive-themed channel Gold will be first launched in the Netherlands.

These stations will be offered to UPC channels and non-affiliated stations.

Speaking in Cannes Wedneday, UPC reps also announced plans to roll out a digital platform with a set-top box available in September.
