Branching out into movie prod'n, int'l. distribution

NEW DELHI — Sony Entertainment Television is expanding into Hindi-language film production and international distribution.

According to Rajesh Pant, CEO of SET, the channel has decided to distribute one film a month to Indian audiences in North America, Europe and Asia. The films will be subtitled in other languages. Its first production, already being lensed, is slated for a March launch.

Meanwhile, the company’s first distribution effort, “Mission Kashmir,” will premiere in London on Oct. 26.
