NEW YORK — Ving Rhames (“Pulp Fiction”) will play a drag queen opposite Alfre Woodard (“Down in the Delta”) as a drug-addicted mother in “Holiday Heart,” a Showtime original movie slated to premiere in late 2000.
Produced by MGM TV in association with Tribeca Prods, “Holiday Heart” is the story of a drag queen who cares for a young girl whose mother is battling drug addiction. Cheryl West wrote the telepic based on her original play, and Robert Townsend (“Five Heartbeats”) will direct. Production will begin in Vancouver in April.
Jane Rosenthal, Brad Epstein and Robert De Niro will exec produce for Tribeca Prods. Sharon Byrens will serve as creative exec on the project for Showtime.
