Seacrest catches new wave at Imagine

Project is among syndies Par is taking to NATPE

The TV project that Imagine Television had been developing with Ryan Seacrest, “Seacrest@Night,” has been scrapped in lieu of a new vehicle for the radio personality to be co-produced by Imagine and Paramount.

Project is one of at least two syndie projects that Par Domestic TV is considering taking to the annual NATPE convention for syndie distribution beginning in fall 2001. The other one that’s come to light is a talker hosted by comic thesp Caroline Rhea (“Sabrina, the Teenage Witch”), from Par’s Big Ticket Television (Daily Variety, June 19).

Eddie October and Ken Fuchs are producing the Seacrest project. Seacrest, October and Fuchs are all repped by Endeavor, which declined to comment on the project.

A Par spokesman also declined to comment, and Imagine Television could not be reached for comment at deadline.

The “Seacrest@Night” project had been aimed at latenight, while the show now being developed is an hourlong yakker geared toward an 18- to 34-year-old afternoon audience.

If the show makes it to firstrun syndication, Seacrest will be working in a hat trick of media — in radio, network TV and syndication.

He currently hosts an afternoon drive radio show on KYSR-FM (Star 98.7) in Los Angeles, and he was recently named host of NBC’s Saturday-night movie block, to begin Oct. 28 (Daily Variety, Aug. 29).
