CANNES — German broadcaster RTL and Hallmark Entertainment have extended an existing output deal for another three years.
Deal has been expanded to include the co-production of a minimum of three of Hallmark’s biggest projects per year.
The previous agreement, inked in 1998, joined Hallmark and RTL on miniseries “Merlin,” “Jason and the Argonauts,” “Cleopatra, “The 10th Kingdom” and “Arabian Nights.”
Under the new agreement, RTL has exclusive rights to Hallmark programming in the German-speaking territories.
“This agreement confirms our ongoing commitment to creating strong reciprocal partnerships with such an outstanding broadcaster as RTL while producing and distributing programming with significant global appeal,” said Hallmark exec VP Joel Denton.
