Regency TV eyes comedy topper

Berenson expected to replace Katsky

With Regency TV exec Tracy Katsky about to join Fox, the production house is in talks with Erin Simon Berenson to assume its top comedy job.

Simon Berenson is expected to take over as Regency’s senior vice president of comedy development, the post currently inhabited by Katsky. Fox is close to naming Katsky to its chief comedy development job, reuniting her with former Regency TV chief and current Fox Entertainment prexy Gail Berman.

Simon Berenson would segue from Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films, the New Line-based production house where she currently serves as senior VP of TV development and production.

While at Red Hour, Simon Berenson developed and produced, along with Greenblatt-Janollari, the Fox pilot “Heat Vision and Jack,” which has become an underground cult favorite but didn’t make the cut for air.

Prior to joining Red Hour in 1998, Simon Berenson was head of television development at Tom Arnold’s Clean Break Prods. for three years.
