Playboy TV Intl. (PTVI) is launching on cable systems in the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Flemish-speaking Belgium, which jointly represent 6 million subscribers.
The Benelux launch represents the latest in a continuing series of Playboy moves worldwide — mainly in Europe, East Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean.
“Playboy TV is debuting in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg in cooperation with some of the most advanced cable operators in the world,” Playboy TV Intl. prexy William Fisher said.
In the highly cabled Netherlands, Playboy will be available through MediaKabel Audiovisuele Diensten, which provides a digital channel bouquet to Dutch cable operators. MediaKabel will offer both Playboy and the Adult Channel, a format owned by PTVI and distributed by subsidiary Playboy TV U.K.
The two services are also skedded for fall launches on Aurora TV in Luxembourg and on Canal Digitaal in Flemish-speaking Belgium.
All systems will be offered the services in an extended basic digital package.
PTVI owns channels in the U.K., Spain, Portugal, Scandinavia, Turkey, Israel, Taiwan and all of Latin America, and holds an ownership interest in Playboy TV Japan.
PTVI is a joint venture between the Cisneros TV Group and Playboy Entertainment Group.
