Following the success of program formats such as “Survivor” and “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” here’s a selection of the latest TV show templates making their way around the world.

Format: “The Mole”

Description: Five men and five women are sent to a beautiful, isolated location for three weeks. Their mission is to work together on a range of tasks to win prizes. The catch is the “mole,” whose job is to sabotage as many tasks as they can.

Format: “Treasure Island”

Format: “Popstars”

Description: Show that follows efforts to create a successful girl band.

Format: “Jailbreak”

Originator: controller of features Michael Attwell and his deputy Kim Peat at Channel 5 in the U.K.

Description: Contestants have three weeks to escape from a mock jail complete with prison guards. There is a big cash prize at stake and contestants have to decide whether to go it alone or collaborate and split the winnings.

First aired: Channel 5

Format: “Boot Camp”

Originator: LWT Productions, U.K.

Description: One-hundred men and women endure life in a real-life military boot camp run by U.S. drill instructors. One man and one women will receive a substantial prize at the end.
