NEW ORLEANS — NBC has picked up its 10th and likely final drama pilot for the 2000-01 season, the Warner Bros. project “Fortunate Son.”
The presentation, created and written by Jim Leonard and Don Winslow, is a “Nick and Nora”-style detective series, according to NBC Entertainment prexy Garth Ancier. The story revolves around an interracial romantic relationship.
NBC will not take a financial stake in “Fortunate Son,” making it only one of two drama pilots (the other is Studios USA’s Dick Wolf/Oliver Platt project) with which NBC Studios won’t be involved. NBC has taken a financial interest in its eight other drama pilots (Daily Variety, Jan. 25).
