NATPE to honor Griffin

Achievement kudo to coincide with Iris Awards

HOLLYWOOD — Merv Griffin will be honored with the annual NATPE Creative Achievement Award during the 34th annual Iris Awards next month.

The award, traditionally bestowed during the National Assn. of Television Program Executives conference in January, has been moved to coincide with the Irises to better highlight the significance of the honor, NATPE said.

The Irises are the only national awards recognizing programming for locally funded TV and cable stations in the United States and Canada.

This year’s awards are scheduled for Oct. 17 on the set of Griffin-created “Jeopardy!” on the Sony Studios Lot in Culver City, Calif.
