Janet Vissering has been upped to senior VP of programming and operations and Mark Green has been named VP of programming at National Geographic Channel Intl.
Already overseeing program acquisitions and scheduling, Vissering will also supervise day-to-day operations for all of the channel’s outlets. Most recently VP of international acquisitions, she was previously head of program acquisitions and development at Discovery Networks Intl.
Green, who’ll continue to report to Vissering in the company’s Washington, D.C., office, will have expanded programming acquisitions duties. He was a manager of program acquisitions and development at Discovery Networks Intl. before joining NGCI as director of international acquisitions in 1998.
“The promotions of both Janet and Mark spark a new synergy between programming, production, operations and research,” said NGCI chief operating officer Angela Morton.
Launched in 1997, National Geographic Channel Intl. is a partnership between National Geographic Ventures, NBC and the Fox Entertainment Group. The web reaches 53 million homes in 64 territories and is set to bow Stateside in December.
