Miller bigger at USA Net

Exec becomes sr. VP of original p'gramming

NEW YORK — The USA Network has made it official: Jim Miller has joined the network as a senior VP.

But instead of taking over the position of senior VP of original-series development, a job that became vacant when David Eick resigned last week (Daily Variety, Sept. 26), Miller, 43, will get the more responsible post of senior VP of all original programming, a new title.

Miller’s background includes both showbiz and journalism. He was executive producer of two short-lived broadcast-network TV series, “D.C.” and “Brimstone.” He was also a producer at CBS News, covering such events as the Reagan-Gorbachev summit in Geneva.

Miller wrote a book called “Running in Place: Inside the U.S. Senate” and was a reporter for the Washington Post. He has also written articles for the New York Times, Newsweek and Life magazine.
