ABC has given a cast-contingent order to “Never in My Wildest…,” a comedy pilot presentation from DreamWorks Television and former “Seinfeld” scribe Carol Leifer.
Leifer created and will exec produce the romantic laffer. Gil Junger (“10 Things I Hate About You”) is set to direct.
In addition to her three-year stint as a “Seinfeld” scribe, Leifer starred in and exec produced the WB sitcom “Alright Already.” She was also a scribe and co-exec producer of the critically praised ABC laffer “It’s Like, You Know… .”
She’s not expected to appear on-camera in “Never.”
Leifer said her skein revolves around “two highly charged, very verbal, intelligent people who meet” and become a couple.
“It’s about the unfolding of their relationship,” she said.
“And they have a talking dog,” she added in jest.
Leifer is balancing production on “Never” with a new gig as one of the writers on this year’s Oscarcast.
“I can’t tell you very much (about the show),” she quipped, “but the production numbers are being replaced by the more modest plate-spinners.”
Leifer’s credits include serving as a writer and supervising producer of “The Larry Sanders Show” and a slew of stand-up comedy specs.
Deal was brokered by CAA and 3 Arts.
