CANNES — Danish toy company Lego is getting into TV production.
Lego Media Intl. has announced it is snapping together a development and production arm with offices in London and L.A.
It is already talking to possible partners about co-production and is looking to make quality kids and family TV fare as well as films and ‘Net content.
How much is earmarked for investment was not disclosed, but Lego has picked up two noted kids’ show execs in the U.K. to run operations.
Vanessa Chapman, an ex-controller for kids programming at ITV, will look after Euro and Asian markets. Head of acquisitions and co-productions will be Michael Carrington, who was deputy head of acquisitions and animation for kids fare at the BBC.
