Writer-producer Chip Johannessen has signed a multiyear drama development pact with Studios USA.
Johannessen most recently exec-produced the Fox pilot “Ultraviolet.” Last season, he was a writer on “The X-Files”; before that, he spent three years on the Fox drama “Millennium,” serving as a consulting producer for the first two seasons before moving up to executive producer.
Johannessen also logged time as co-producer and story editor on “Beverly Hills, 90210” and worked as a producer on ABC’s short-lived “The Monroes.”
In a previous career, the former Harvard Lampoon writer was a rock guitarist in New York.
“Chip is one of the most inventive and insightful writers working in television today,” said Studios USA president of programming David Kissinger. “He has an unmistakable voice but is also remarkably facile, as shown by the eclectic collection of shows to which he has made contributions in his career.”
Johannessen is repped by Elliot Webb of the Broder Kurland Webb Uffner Agency.
