Japan carries digital

World Brief

Leading multi-service operator Jupiter Telecom will carry for its cable subscribers the digital satellite programs to be launched by eight broadcasters on Dec. 1. Jupiter will lease digital set-top boxes to its subscribers for 1,000 yen ($9.34) a month so the digital signals can be received by analog TV sets.

Other MSOs are expected to follow Jupiter’s move and boost consumer awareness of the new direct-to-home satellite services.
