Ingraham moves up at NBC

Journo shifts to politics as Decision 2000 correspondent

Laura Ingraham, host of MSNBC’s “Watch It,” will move to primetime as a special correspondent covering Decision 2000 for MSNBC and NBC News.

In her new role, Ingraham will report from the campaigns, the primaries and the summer conventions. She will also file reports for “The News With Brian Williams,” and various NBC News programs and provide commentary for MSNBC.com.

“Laura’s new role will showcase her political insight and interviewing skills, while placing her closer to the action on the campaign trail,” said MSNBC VP and general manager Erik Sorenson.

The final edition of “Watch It,” which Ingraham has hosted since August 1998, will air Friday. MSNBC will announce a programming replacement shortly.
