NEW DELHI — The Indian version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” called “Kaun Banega Crorepati,” has stormed to the top of the ratings. But the Rupert Murdoch-backed Star Plus quizzer is about to get some competish from quizzer “Greed” –which comes from Oz’s other media mogul, Kerry Packer.
“Greed” will air on national broadcaster Doordarshan (DD).
Packer’s Nine Broadcasting India is already wooing the Star Plus host of “Kaun Banega Crorepati,” superstar Amitabh Bachchan, to do the rival show.
Nine Broadcasting India recently bagged the three-hour primetime slot on DD and will pit “Greed” directly against “Crore” at 9 p.m.
