BUENOS AIRES — Up and coming Argentinean film director Bruno Stagnaro has been signed by leading TV producer Ideas del Sur for a 13-part drama series.
The show, “Okupas,” to be written and directed by Stagnaro, will air in October on pubcaster Canal 7.
Stagnaro first attracted attention in 1997 as one half of the directing team on low-budget feature “Pizza, Birra, Faso,” a gritty look at the life of a group of marginalized youngsters. The film generated more than 100,000 admissions and was well-received at international festivals.
Canal 7 is becoming a testing ground for the more offbeat ideas of Ideas del Sur, run by one of Argentina’s biggest TV stars, Marcelo Tinelli.
The producer has already provided the revamped pubcaster with its biggest hit, current cult comedy “Todo por 2 pesos.”
