Audiences enjoyed the changing face of talkshows during the past week and a half as two new personages entered the syndication scene. Buena Vista Television introduced the world to “Ainsley Harriott,” while Twentieth bowed Robin Givens as Mother Love’s replacement on “Forgive or Forget.”
Givens clearly struck a chord with auds Monday as the show pulled an overnight 2.3 rating, 6 share, in the metered markets. The seg skyrocketed 43% over a comparable program during November sweeps. “Forgive” landed particularly strong in New York, where the sophomore series pulled a 4.7/10 on UPN affiliate WWOR — an increase of 62%.
“Harriott’s” debut last week wasn’t as strong, although the series just scored a key upgrade at San Francisco Fox station WTVO, where it will run at 10 a.m. starting next Monday instead of 3:30 a.m. The BVT strip averaged a 1.5/5 in metered markets, down 17% from the November time period. The British host did find strong audiences in L.A., where KNBC saw a 22% jump to a 2.2/18.
