BERLIN — German film distrib Kinowelt Medien has sold a package of pay TV rights to Universal Studios Network Deutschland.
Deal involves rerun broadcast rights to a package of 70 films from the Kinowelt labels Arthuas and its recently acquired Filmverlag der Autoren stock, including pics by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Jim Jarmusch and Eric Rohmer.
Kinowelt also sold free TV rights to the pics “Three Seasons” and “Nurse Betty” to pubcaster ZDF.
USN Germany said Thursday that its rights library has increased from 1,100 to 1,900 hours and that it has acquired programming from MGM, CLT/Ufa and Tele-Munchen.
The company operates two channels, Studio Universal and 13th Street, on the Kirch Group’s pay TV web Premiere World.
