Just in time for the debut of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’s” new three-day-a-week schedule, another contestant answered that question Tuesday night.
Dan Blonsky, a Miami-based commercial and employment litigation attorney, collected $1 million by correctly answering how many miles separate Earth and the sun. (The answer is 93 million.) Blonsky became the second contestant in the show’s history, including other versions globally, to answer all 15 questions correctly and reach the top.
The newly minted millionaire utilized his “phone a friend” lifeline at the $500,000 question to get an assist from Jeff Crockett, one of his law partners. The question: Which celebrity appeared on the first cover of People magazine? (Answer: Mia Farrow.) In other gameshow news, NBC has picked up two more episodes of “Twenty-One,” to air Monday, Jan. 24, and Monday, Jan. 31, at 9 p.m. And CBS will stunt its quiz skein effort, “Winning Lines,” this week on Friday at 8 p.m. and for an hour Saturday at 8 p.m.
