French gov’t boosts public TV & radio coin

World Brief

France’s public TV and radio are slated to get a boost from the government with a 6.1% increase in the 2001 budget, to bring the total price tag of public funding to $3 billion.

Culture and communications minister Catherine Tasca said the new figure will more than compensate pub stations France 2 and France 3 for decreased advertising airtime imposed by law since 1999.
