'Millennium,' 'Time,' 'Felicity' get nods

The American Society of Cinematographers has named 10 finalists, including three from the Fox network, for its ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards competition in two TV categories.

The honors will be presented Feb. 20 at the org’s 14th annual awards event, held at the Century Plaza Hotel.

Episodic TV series nominees are Robert McLachlan for the “Matroyshka” episode of Fox’s “Millennium”; John Peters, “The Time the Millennium Approached,” Fox’s “Time of Your Life”; Robert Primes, “Todd Mulcahy Part 2,” the WB’s “Felicity”; Lowell Peterson, “Las Brisas,” NBC’s “Profiler”; and Bill Roe, “Agua Mala,” Fox’s “The X-Files.”

Nominees in the telepic/miniseries/pilot category are Thomas Ruth for NBC’s “The West Wing”; Jonathan Freeman, Showtime’s “Strange Justice”; Robbie Greenberg, HBO’s “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge”; Pierre Gill, CBS’ “Joan of Arc”; and Bing Sokolsky, ABC’s “Mind Prey.”

“The ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards are designed to encourage and inspire a quest for excellence in an artform which generally gets overlooked or categorized as a craft by newspaper and television critics,” ASC president Victor J. Kemper said.
