Four more NBC affiliates have joined the anti- “God” crusade.
KTAL Shreveport, La.; WTVA Tupelo, Miss.; KTVB Boise, Idaho; and KTFT Twin Falls, Idaho have told NBC that they don’t plan to air the midseason animated series “God, the Devil and Bob” in its regular Tuesday night time period.
The stations have offered to air “God” on a time delay basis in latenight, but NBC’s affiliate contracts allow the net to shop the show elsewhere in those markets.
An NBC spokeswoman said the Peacock hasn’t yet determined whether it will allow the stations to downgrade the show to latenight airings or try to find new homes for it.
NBC’s Salt Lake City and Pocatello, Idaho, affils previously announced plans to preempt the show. Idaho has been especially harsh on “God”: All three of the Big Potato’s NBC affils have preempted the Carsey-Werner half-hour.
“God’s” producers hope the controversy helps the show’s premiere this Thursday. “It’s certainly not our intention, but it might help publicize the show,” creator Matt Carlson said.
