NEW YORK — Commercial-free cable network Encore will premiere “Director’s Take,” a series featuring directors’ cuts of their films, beginning with Oliver Stone’s “JFK” on Saturday.
The films will include additional or re-edited footage added to the original theatrically released version.
“This new offering gives our subscribers a unique opportunity to see these great films the way their directors intended them to be seen,” said Robert Leighton, president of Encore Entertainment Group.
Upcoming titles in the series include “Armageddon,” “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” “The Last Emperor,” “Touch of Evil,” “Lethal Weapon” and “Woodstock.”
Michael Bay’s cut of “Armageddon,” which has never aired on television, includes a scene that introduces a new character played by Lawrence Tierney (“Reservoir Dogs”).
