Co-CEO Marbut to ankle Hearst-Argyle

Barrett remains as company's sole topper

Hearst-Argyle Television co-CEO Bob Marbut will resign at the end of the year, leaving prexy/co-chief exec David Barrett as the company’s sole topper.

Marbut will remain for two years as a consultant for San Antonio-based Argyle Communications, and for less time with Hearst Corp., which controls the Hearst-Argyle group.

Marbut launched Argyle in 1991 and later co-founded Argyle Television, which merged with Hearst’s broadcast division in August 1997. Prior to Argyle, Marbut was president and CEO at Harte-Hanks Communications.

Barrett has been Hearst-Argyle president and co-CEO since June 1999. He first joined Hearst in 1984 as G.M. of its Baltimore radio properties.
