Veteran CNN exec Jack Womack has been appointed exec VP of syndicated TV news service CNN Newsource, a newly created position.
Most recently exec VP of CNN Headline News, Womack will oversee all operational and editorial aspects of CNN Newsource, which has more than 600 affiliates across North America.
Womack will remain based in Atlanta. He will report to Eason Jordan, president, newsgathering and international networks, CNN News Group, and continue to work closely with Susan Grant, president of CNN Newsource Sales.
In charge of network ops
As exec VP at CNN Headline News, Womack was responsible for all network operations and many of the CNN News Group’s ancillary news services, including CNN Newsource, CNNRadio and CNN Airport Network.
“Jack’s keen understanding of the needs of local news stations has helped CNN Newsource continue to set the standard for excellence in affiliate services,” Grant said. “The fact that he can now focus all of his attention on CNN Newsource will even better serve the wide-ranging needs of our affiliate partners.”
Since joining CNN in 1985 as a national assignment editor, Womack has held various posts at the news cabler, including public relations manager, director of affiliate relations for CNN Newsource Sales and VP of editorial operations for CNN Headline News.
