Rights to 'Rudolph,' 'Moby Dick', other toon classics bought

BERLIN — German kidvidder BKN Intl. has acquired for $13 million the exploitation rights to the library of New York-based Good Times Entertainment.

Catalog includes classics such as “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Moby Dick” as well as “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and The Island of Misfit Toys,” now in production. In addition, BKNI has first-look rights on future Rudolph movies through 2003.

Deal boosts BKNI’s library to more than 800 episodes, which is up by over 99% since the company went public in March. BKNI’s share prices were little affected by the announcement.
