The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation has created a diversity fund in memory of Syd Cassyd, the ATAS founder who died Feb. 4.
The Syd Cassyd Memorial Endowment Fund will be used to support diversity through the org’s various mentoring and educational programs, including college internships and Start, enrichment classes in elementary schools sponsored by ATAS.
“My father felt very strongly about the lack of diversity on television,” Donna Cassyd said. “I can’t think of a more fitting testimonial to his voice than this fund.”
