Thomas G. “Action” Maney, a longtime advertising executive in the entertainment industry, died Aug. 23 of unreported causes at his home in Marina del Rey. He was 72.

A native of Los Angeles, Maney began his 30-year advertising career when he joined the sales staff of KHJ TV (Channel 9 in Los Angeles). After a stint at Blair TV as an account execu-tive, he joined KTTV, where he served as an account executive and local sales manager.

He relocated to Washington, D.C., where he became general sales manager and vice president of WTTG and then moved to Boston, serving in a similar position for station WCVB.

Maney retired in 1987 at the age of 59. His wife of 46 years, Mary Jane, died in 1998.

He is survived by a son, two daughters and three grandchildren.
