Billie Neal, a film, TV and legit character actress, died of cancer in Los Angeles on Dec. 27. She was 44.
Born Gwendolyn Williams in Little Rock, Ark., she studied acting with the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York and began her career onstage with the Steppenwolf Theatre Co.
She essayed roles in feature films including “Born on the Fourth of July,” “Down by Thoughts,” “Internal Affairs” and “Eve’s Bayou.” TV credits included “Law & Order,” “The Practice” and the BBC miniseries “Signs & Wonders.”
She is survived by her mother, Mildred Trimuel.
A public memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m. Sundayin the parlor of the Hollywood United Methodist Church at 6817 Franklin Ave. in Hollywood.
